5 Popular nature places for people with children

There’s nothing quite like getting lost in nature with your family. The great thing about West Wales is that there really is something for everybody.


1. Parrog Beach (SA42 0NR)

Whether it’s wet or warm, this beach offers spectacular views of the coast and mountains.


It’s a dog-friendly beach with plenty of access to toilet facilities and food places.



2. Aberfforest Woods (SA42 0UH)

Whether you’ve got young children or a herd of teenagers, it’s an absolutely stunning nature walk that feels untouched. There is even a little leg friendly walk down to a waterfall where kids and dogs can splash.


There’s a reason that this national park is dubbed a ‘wonder-filled coast’. There are many walking routes, from being very child friendly to suiting experienced walkers.


4. Preseli Hills

Located in North Pembrokeshire, these hills fall mostly within the above national park, stretching all the way from Newport to Crymych. There’s a reason why this historic walking trail is so popular.


There are plenty of experiences where your family can book boat trips to explore the coastal creatures. Although Summer is usually the best times for spotting dolphins, the rides are mostly available all year round and are a great option to explore the West Wales coast.

There’s something for everybody in Pembrokeshire. From toddler-friendly soft play to trampoline parks that even teens will enjoy.

1. Hangar 5 (SA62 4BY)

This trampoline park and indoor soft play area are perfect for all ages - there’s even a soft play area for your littlest ones. They even serve great food which is budget-friendly.


2. West Wales Karting (SA62 4BP)

A perfect activity for older kids and teenagers (as well as the parents)! There are sessions to suit most ages and abilities.


The indoor play centre offers space for big kids to explore while under 4’s have a safe separate space to play. Open Monday-Sunday so great for all week fun!


It’s a little further away from Seaborne House, but worth the trip if your family love swimming. There are swimming pools and water slides - your kids will love it!


5. The Creative Cafe (SA61 2DA)

Looking for a family-friendly indoor activity that’s a little calmer? This pottery painting activity is perfect for your family to explore their creativity.

It’s great when you can entertain and educate your children at the same time. So, we’ve put together some interesting activities that your family can learn and enjoy!


1. Maritime Museum (SA73 3AF)

Explore the history of whaling and the fishing industry all the way back to the Bronze age. Reasonably priced and a great activity for when it’s raining.


2. Dinosaur Park (SA70 8RB)

This is a great activity for helping your kids learn about dinosaurs on the fascinating dinosaur trail to entertaining them with fun-filled rides. There is something for little kids and plenty of fun for older ones too.


3. St Davids Cathedral (SA62 6RD)

As one of Christianity's greatest historic shines, it’s a fantastic option for your children to learn more about the history dating all the way to the ‘Dark Ages’.


It's also one of Wales' most stunning cathedrals, with gorgeous features inside and out.


Perfect for animal lovers, your family can see and learn about stunning birds in their natural habitats. There are a range of experiences like the ‘Owl Encounter’ or ‘Woodland Hawk Walk’ and even fascinating flying displays.


Another great activity where your family can learn about Wales’ history. From discovering information about knights of the realm to Civil War devesation. It’s a great all rounder family activity as there’s even a 23 acre Millpond!
